If you are in the market for a good playing cue at a low price, then check out the Meucci Sneaky Pete cue.

Many players prefer the way sneaky pete cues play. Probably, because of the feel of the wood-to-wood joint. Look at the joint on the sneaky pete and you'll notice that it is different. That, along with the general construction of the butt, will give you a little bit different type of feel when hitting a shot.

I've always preferred the feel of a sneaky pete, compared to other cues from the same manufacturer. If I was on a tight budget and looking for a cue, this is exactly what I would be looking for.

One other thing to consider, if you're not sure if Meucci's sneaky pete is for you. All of Meucci's standard cues come with the wrap coated, so you can't feel the wrap anyhow. The only exceptions are cues that were custom ordered from Meucci, which are very rare. So, the fact that that their sneaky pete doesn't have a wrap, should not factor into how the cue feels in your hands.

Meucci's Sneaky Pete is model number 97-01 and has a MSRP of $275. Below, you'll find some more details and price comparisons, to help you make an informed decision.

Also, check out the new and used listings for sneaky pete meucci cues for sale and other popular sneaky pete cues for sale on the right side of this page. You can find many good deals on sneaky pete cues from many quality cuemakers, if you keep an eye open for deals. Good luck.

Cuetec provides more cue for the money! Cuetec's composite cladding of either graphite or fiberglass completely encases the solid wood core in an armor of high-tech synthetic material. A "Power Bonding Process" protects the cue from warping by locking out moisture and temperature changes. Synthetic cladding provides ding and dent resistance, and adds tremendous strength to the cue. You get the performance associated with high-tech composite materials, and the feel of wood. Pro players Earl Strickland and Allison Fisher endorse the cues.

In the video below, professional player and pool playing legend, Johnny Archer, reveals what he keeps inside his pool case.

Johnny Archer, aka "The Scorpion", is one of the most successful professional players of the last couple of decades. He is about the same age as me, so I have enjoyed watching him play many matches over the years. He has won just about every major title and has amassed a long list of victories over the last 20+ years of competitive pool. He is a great player and an invaluable asset to the sport of pool IMO, so when he reveals what's in his cue case, I want to sit-up and pay attention.

So just what does he carry....

Obviously, Johnny has some Scorpion Cues in his case, after-all, he helped design them. You should watch the video to get some more insight into Johnny's opinion about these cues. He carries 3 cues in his bag along with several extra shafts. Let's break-down his cue selection. I'll give you some more details about these cues, just in case you are interested in finding one.
First is his main playing cue. He is playing with the JA-03 model of Scorpion cue. Johnny mentions that he likes to play with a Triangle brand tip on his cue. Here are some links to this exact model of cue and the specs for it.

Similar to the Cuetec shafts, the Scorpion cue shafts are coated with fiberglass to protect the cue. Johnny seems to play well with those shafts, so I guess that speaks for itself.
His second cue was a Scorpion Break cue. Here are some links to this cue if your interested along with the specs for this cue.
He also had a Scorpion jump cue in his case, which he seemed to like. He mentioned that he worked with the manufacturer to develop the jump cues. Johnny is a great jumper, so I would give them a try. Here is the information on that cue...

The specs for the Scorpion jump cue...
Wrap: Black Veltec
Sleeve: Black
Bumper: Black rubber

Other than the insight into his cues, he doesn't reveal to many secret weapons on his bag of tricks. If you ever seen him play, you know that he uses a lot of powder, so he had that. Oddly enough, he had a ton of chalk in his case...apparently, he likes to swipe the chalk cubes off of tables, so watch your chalk around him
I wish he would have mentioned who made his cue case. If you know, comment below, I'm sure others would be interested.
It looks like he's a bit of a minimalist, like myself, when it comes to his supplies in his case (unless he's holding-out on us). I never carry too many gadgets in my case, either.
Anyhow...here is the video...Thanks to InsidePool for making this interview available.

If you want a good playing cue without all the fancy expense of most custom cues, then a sneaky pete cue might be a good choice.

Sneaky pete cues are cues that tend to look like a house cue that you would find at most pool halls. Basically, it is like cutting a house cue in half, then adding a joint screw.

Obviously, the quality of play and the craftsmanship of these cues vary from cuemaker to cuemaker, just like any other cue they make. Luckily, most cuemakers offers a sneaky pete cue. Typically, this is the lowest cost option from most cuemakers.

I've had some great playing sneaky petes. Sometimes they play better than a 1000 dollar cue from the same cuemaker.

Another option is to find a sneaky pete butt and get a predator or OB1 shaft for it. Check out the sneaky pete from predator that I'm hoping to buy soon. This is a good example of how a typical sneaky pete cue might look.

There are lots of different sneaky pete cues out there. Check out the cues in the column to the right. These are good bargains, too. Good luck with your search.

Cheers,
