Paul Mottey is a custom cuemaker residing in Pittsburgh, PA. He has been making cues since 1983. The craftsmanship of his cues is truly top-notch. His designs tend to be more classical like an old Szamboti or Paradise cue. That is what attracted me to his cues many years ago. More than that, I really liked how his cue played. I owned a Mottey sneaky pete cue. I loved how that cue played. Why I sold it, I can't figure out. Years later, after regretting that sale, I purchased a four-point ebony and birds-eye maple cue. That cue was georgeous.

Paul only makes one-of-a-kind cues. He'll make the cue to your exact specifications. I saw on his website that he has some unique designs including some impressive scrimshaw work on some of his cues.

Be prepared to spend some money to get his level of quality. If you order from him, directly, his cues start at $1,500. You might have to wait a while for him to make you a cue. He one makes a few dozen cues per year, from what I hear. His cues are beautiful and they play well. I highly recommend them.
