The Mezz Z802 cue is mostly birdseye maple on the butt and the forearm. It does have some inlay work, though. The butt sleeve has a band of cocobolo with micarta diamonds outlined with ebony. There is a similar band of cocobolo just above the wrap on the forearm. This band also incorporates micarta diamonds and small micarta points, both outlined in ebony. The wrap is black irish linen with white specks. The shaft features the unique hit of the Mezz' X-ferrule and WD700 (low deflection) shaft.

About The Mezz z401 Cue

If you shop for cues, because of the way that they play, instead of all of the intricate inlays, then the Mezz Z401 pool stick could be a good pool cue for you. This cue is very similar to the Mezz Sneaky Pete Cue but has the addition of an Irish linen wrap, see my review of the Mezz ZZSP Sneaky Pete Cue . This pool stick features Blackwood on the sleeve that continues to form points on the Birdseye Maple forearm. It is a minimalistic design, but is one that is executed rather well. It comes standard with the Mezz WD700, low-deflection, shaft with a 12.5mm tip. It also features a stainless steel joint.

Mezz Sneaky Pete Cue

With this Mezz Sneaky Pete cue, you get a cue with a fairly basic design and the same functionality of the higher-priced mezz cues. I think the cue is very elegant for a sneaky pete cue. It has laminated ebony from the butt to the forearm that forms 4 points in the birdseye maple forearm. The Mezz ZZSP does not have a wrap. Its unique joint design assures a very precise fit. Overall, a very nice sneaky pete cue.

Mezz ZZDF Jump Break Cue/Mezz Dual Force Break Cue

The Mezz ZZDF is also known as the Mezz "Dual Force" jump/break cue. It features some nice innovations from the engineers at mezz cues. The first innovation is in the shaft technology. The shaft features what they call the sonic ferrule and trance tip and are supposed to improve impact efficiency (transfer more energy into the cueball??) and produce a larger impact area (ie create a larger sweet spot). The mesh leather wrap absorbs energy, which helps you to finish your break stroke more consistently. It also helps to give some extra grip. Lastly, it features the D2 joint pin, which gives different handle combinations for long and short jump shots.

In the video, below, women's professional pool player, Sarah Rousey, shows off her Mezz EC7-C cue and all of the other cool gadgets and m0mentos that she carries with her as she travels around the world competing in pool tournaments. This is another great video from Samm Diep from PoolDawg.com.

Here is a quick breakdown of just what Sarah Rousey carrying in her cue case, two shafts.

Her Mezz EC7-C Cue w/ the HD 700 Shaft

Sarah is sponsored by PoolDawg.com and mezz cues, so naturally, she is playing with the Mezz Cue model EC7-C. She carries two different versions of Mezz low deflection shafts. She used to play with the Hybrid Pro II, but changed to the HD 700 shaft, because she feels it has a softer hit. According to Sarah, this is the same shaft that Mika Immonen and Alex Pagulyan are using, so she is definitely in good company with that. She uses a compressed Triangle tip on her shafts.

The Mezz Power Break II

She carries the Power Break II break cue from Mezz Cues. This is the slightly shorter version of break cue with removal rings to adjust the weigh and balance. This features the Mezz Deep Impact shaft, with a hard leather tip. She doesn't use the Deep Impact Pro shaft with the phenolic tip, because she has trouble controlling the cue with that tip/shaft combo.

The Mezz Air Drive jump cue

Sarah switched to the Mezz Air Drive jump cue and really loves it.

The Mezz Professional Extension

Being small in stature, Sarah carries the, very helpful tool, the Mezz Professional Extension...cue extension. This is a really cool accessory that Mezz features for their pool cues. I've had some trouble locating them in the U.S. If anyone has a source, please let me know.

The Mezz Soft Cue Case

This is a very nice looking Mezz Cue case. It is a soft version of a 3 butt x 5 shaft case. It features nice red trim and lots of storage space. This case sells for around $80, which is very reasonable.

Other pool playing accessories

Sarah carries the Mezz tip tool, the Nick's Edge shaft burnishing system (one of my favorites), chalk and several momentos. One of the interesting comments that Sarah made is that she heard of another player baking their chalk...I never heard of that one before.

Thanks to Samm Diep for providing another interesting video, featuring one of our favorite pool players. If you are looking for any of the stuff that Sarah is using, just check out the listings on this page and I hope you find a great deal.

Cheers,
Skippy

In this episode of Samm Diep's "on the case", you can find out what, the world-class player, Dennis Orcollo is carrying in this cue case. Dennis is one of the best players in the world and just another in a great line of players to come from the Philippines.

In the video you'll see that Dennis just picked up his new Diveney Custom Cue. Diveney Custom Cues are made by Pat Diveney out of West Liberty, Iowa. Like many custom cuemakers, Pat doesn't make a lot of cues, so finding one on the open market might be tough. If there are any ebay auctions, currently, I'll list them here...

Overall, nothing too out of the ordinary in Dennis' cue case. The cue case was really nice, too, but I was unable to determine who made the case. If anyone knows, please comment below. I would love to know.

Do you want to play with the same pool cue that Jasmin Ouschan uses? Well, now you know. She plays with a mezz cue with a Predator 314 shaft. She has a beautiful case made by Jack Justis. Justis makes here a new case every year. The Mezz cue is the same cue that Mika Immonen plays with along with a lot of pro Japanese players. She has a Predator BK2 break cue. Also, she uses a Stealth jump cue.

In the video, you'll see all of stuff that Jasmin uses to keep her equipment in tip-top shape, like shaft conditioners, tip shapers, chalk, etc. It's always interesting to see what people keep in their case. I always minimized what was in my case. How about you, what is in your case?

If you want to get some equipment like Jasmin uses, I've found some deals on Mezz, Predator and Stealth cues. Check them out to the right --->
